a few words from our community…
This community is so powerful, so welcoming and so beautiful. If you’ve never danced a beat in your life or have your whole life, there is a place for you here.

If you’re coming to read reviews looking for a nudge to join Luminesque, I’m telling you- this is it. There is a space and place for everyone here. The beginner classes are very gentle and encouraging and for the more experienced dancer- you will be able to really take your dancing to that next level!!
The company is very inclusive and has done amazing work to improve in areas where growth was needed. If you have a body- it’s welcome here and there is much diversity in the classes for age, shape, race, ability etc.
If you’re intimidated by the heels aspect- don’t be. Start slow or do your first couple of classes without them. I dance in a dance boot with heels which really helps me to feel stable and strong.
Then there are the shows. Just wait until you experience that!! They are not your average “recital” but rather a full on production with acting and stories and themes and costumes and killer dances. We just finished our Dark Side Part 2 on at the Vogue theatre! Aside from the performance itself, the magic of the backstage bonding experience with your group is what really stays with you. Women supporting women- reminiscent of getting ready for a high school dance with your besties!
Life is busy and stressful and to take on a new hobby can feel daunting, but as a working Mom it reminds me how important it is to connect into a side of me that is often pushed aside.
It feels damn good. I promise you- get brave and get your butt into class. You won’t regret it.

started dancing as an adult 5 years ago with this company, and it’s been a life changer in terms of confidence, as well as physical health. Also a great way to meet new friends as an adult. :)

I was just looking for a fun way to stay active once in a while when I signed up for Luminesque. What I found instead is a tight, supportive community of women supporting women (and all that identify as such) making magic together twice a year. This is a place that makes you believe you can do anything and prove that you can no matter what size or shape you are, neophyte or pro, it's all brought together by the Lumi Team in such a beautiful and empowering way.
I've only been with Lumi one term so far but the way they have navigated the pandemic, maintaining that balance of being there for their members and respecting/adhering to PHO with everyone's safety in mind, is nothing sort of topnotch. This is not easy by any means for any company, but they did it beautifully and fiercely. Every plan is detailed and well thought out.
I encourage everyone to at least take the step to try the free class. I did, and I was hooked.

I started with Luminesque on my 40th year. I wanted to try something different, had friends who had been dancing with Lumi and raved about it.
So I signed up and was sooo nervous, and a little intimidated. I loved how everyone moved and was so body positive and I wanted that too. It was the best scary choice i made.
It really isn't just a dance class. Its a community of amazing people who support you and care for you and help you put on those darn fake eyelashes!
Now I am 42, I just finished my 4th term, did a show at the Vogue (no kidding!) and was able to conquer those nerves on stage. Its just a really special place for me. SO thanks Lumi loves, and heres to the next show......

Luminesque Dance... I had no idea what this was before I was convinced by a girlfriend this past term, I went to the free class and had a good time, I joined the term with the thought that I would enjoy a night out of the house once per week in the winter, I had no idea that there would be a performance at the end of it... eeek I was terrified and asked my instructor if I "had " to do the performance at the end and she assured me that I did not if I really didn't want to but comforted me and told me that I would likely change my mind (I was doubtful of this) before I knew it I was looking forward to the next class, each week I became more and more confident (I had never taken a dance class before in my life) Once we got the news of the theme of our performance my excitement grew. The comradery with the classmates became friendships, and a support system like no other, often there was significant emotions shared in class, we were all vulnerable on so many levels. This is what brought us all closer together, before we knew it we were meeting outside of class time to have fun little practices on our own. Excitement grew among us all, as the show got closer we bonded over nerves and and costume building etc. Luminesque dance was so far outside of my comfort zone that I felt it wouldn't be for me, and now that the show is over I am longing to see my dance babes. This was such an absolutely positive experience, individuals lifting each other up! Every babe cheering on the rest of the dancers. I can't wait to join the next term! #weartheheals

I have just finished my 8th term dancing with Luminesque! I am filled with so much gratitude for the joy and support this community gives me. This dance company is simply inspiring. Luminesque creates a community of women that are there to support and encourage you to be the best version of yourself. These classes and shows have built my confidence up, filled me with happiness, improved my skills as a dancer and created a safe space to dance out all the emotions! Would recommend this dance company to anyone looking for a little more dance, fun, community and confidence in their life! I also cannot emphasize how amazing they have been throughout the pandemic in keeping a community alive while always adhering to health regulations and recommendations. I salute them for constantly pivoting through these difficult times and always putting their dancers and the public's safety first.

I joined my first Luminesque dance class in September 2020 and little did I know that I would be joining such an amazing community. I love their passion and inclusivity - every BODY is beautiful and EVERYbody is a dancer.
This company goes above and beyond to make sure that their students have the most positive, supportive, and safe experience. When necessary, they have done an incredible job at pivoting due to the public health orders changing. I am now going into my 4th term.

I'm a part of Luminesque for a lot of reasons. For sure, the experience of connecting and growing with a group of women for five months at a time and then performing in a live show with so many phenomenal humans is a huge part of the joy. But it's so much more than glitzy costumes and killer choreography. I do it for myself.
Two hours a week where all I think about and focus on is this mom/wife/boss/daughter/sister/friend named Hilary. It's indulgent and it's essential. It's taught me what self-care can really be, and it's carved out the time for me to breathe and remember how to take up all my space. It's a huge part of what's carried me through 2021 and into 2022.
If you're interested in trying but also terrified, that is a very normal feeling! I can't say that my experience would be the same for everyone, but I can say there's a place for everyone.
