EXPRESS rapidly challenges experienced dancers to develop artistry and embodied storytelling through the expedited process of building professional-level performances in only 8 weeks.

Our 8-week performance program allows seasoned dancers to go beyond learning technique, and work with choreographers and directors to hone their craft as a dance artist. EXPRESS is by audition, and only experienced dancers are eligible to participate, as they must demonstrate the strong Heels dance technique required to safely perform in a show after only 8 weeks.

What we’re specifically looking for at Express auditions: strong foundation of heels technique, dynamic performance quality, rapid choreography pickup, desire to grow as a performer, ability to quickly integrate notes, experience performing onstage, thrives in a fast paced environment, team player mindset, consistent commitment, reliable attendance/availability aligned with the schedule.

Do you live for the stage? EXPRESS is your opportunity to perform in dynamic, groundbreaking dances in 7+ full scale productions per year. Our ENSEMBLE cohorts work at an expedited pace to set two epic pieces in just 3 weeks each, and then dive deep into character development in a Director’s Rehearsal before they hit the stage. Explore diverse characters, go full tilt on your sexual expression, and embrace your own artistic interpretation of the impactful choreography we create specifically for your cohort.

Ready to ramp up your artistic and performance training with experts in embodied storytelling? Work with directors and choreographers in an intimate setting to hone artistry, execution and performance. Train hard at an accelerated pace, be pushed to execute dynamic and meaningful choreography, and perform in epic productions. Although EXPRESS is deliberately intense, it’s still Luminesque - which means we foster a collaborative, supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to shine bright.

tell your own stories on stage

Once a year in our NASTY show, we provide the opportunity for soloists to create and perform their own piece. Whether they’re guided and mentored through setting their own choreography, or work directly with an expert choreographer to build something that brings their vision to life - our SOLOS program is your chance to put your heart, soul, and artistic dreams centre stage.

NOTE ABOUT WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED

In an effort to promote transparency and financial accessibility, we like to let students know ahead of time about other costs that may arise that are not included in the registration fees. Most of these things can be borrowed, bought second hand, or sourced.

• Travel or accommodations if you’re travelling from outside of Vancouver or Victoria to perform

• Heels to dance in (we recommend suede bottomed heels no higher than 4” tall)

• Outfits to dance in (we recommend whatever makes you feel fabulous!)

• Your costume, which must be sourced in alignment with our guidelines

• Stage makeup in alignment with our guidelines, and hairstyling services

• Tickets to the show (encourage your friends to support you + local art!)

• Free copies of the show videos (you can access these through LumiTV)
