WHY WE’RE SHARING
While our shows are always about celebrating sexual/self expression, Smut Camp is putting sexuality on centre stage. We're sharing more information than we usually would publicly in advance of the term starting, so dancers can make informed choices about their participation in the show as a whole, and in courses that feature specific characters. We are also working closely with Intimacy Consultants, and renewing our training with our staff, to uphold the utmost standards of communicating consent.
ALL CHARACTERS WLL EXPLORE:
SEXUAL EXPRESSION, CONNECTION, EXPLORATION, FANTASY, STORYTELLING, PLAYFULNESS, CAMP
CHARACTER BADGE LEGEND (as listed on the Schedules)
If a course has more than one emoji, it means it’ll play multiple characters in the show (but have similar costume requirements).

about returning student levels
The PROGRESS program has 3 levels for Returning students:
the KITTEN HEELS, the PUMPS, and the STILETTOS.
Although our levels have cheeky high-heel inspired names, these aren’t literally the shoes you’ll wear when you’re dancing. We recommend everyone trains in a less then 4”, suede-bottomed dance shoe designed for Heels dance, like our Glow Getter heel.
how students progress for years in the same level
We’re continually developing a comprehensive curriculum of Heels dance movement with experts from a variety of fields, and our team of teachers are certified every year in Luminesque movement and processes through the Glow Giver Academy. While students do sometimes shift levels, it only really happens when their circumstances (in dance, life, etc.) have changed significantly.
HOW WILL I PROGRESS?
We’ve developed a rubric of Dimensions of Difficulty that our staff uses to ensure all students are provided opportunities to grow as Heels dancers every term, regardless of placement.
While the exercises may differ via level, all dancers still receive appropriate challenges that encourage growth in: pace of learning, stamina & strength, mental stamina, self/spatial awareness, emotional expression, character embodiment, movement precision, and choreography complexity.
Each term, a teacher may focus on specific aspects of the wheel with a given course - but regardless of focus, they will touch on all aspects at some point in the 5-month program.
see the levels in action
THE KITTEN HEELS
The Kitten Heels are students who just love to dance! They may be fairly new to dance, or have some experience - but ultimately they’re here to develop foundational technique, feel confident in their performances, become comfortable with expressing sexuality, and receive loving support from their teachers and fellow students. They receive the most guidance from our team, and are able to succeed without much out-of-class-time commitment. If you’re “here for fun” or a busy bee, Kitten Heels is a great fit.
THE PUMPS
The Pumps are experienced dancers who are looking to further develop heels dance technique, strength and performance quality. They have a solid foundation of heels dance injury prevention and skills, and are looking to challenge themselves to take on more difficult choreography and performance prompts. They desire direct feedback from their teachers, and are committed not only to their own journey, but to their teammates' success as well. They’re getting comfortable with expressing sexuality and storytelling, and are committed to practicing outside class time.
THE STILETTOS
The Stilettos are advanced or professional dancers with years of experience, who desire a nurturing place to build upon and finesse their existing foundation of technique, artistry, and performance. They are extremely familiar with heels technique, and consistently demonstrate injury prevention, even when mindfully “breaking the rules” of proper alignment. They’re super self-aware about their own goals and limitations, and desire to be challenged in new ways by their teachers. They understand the value of collaboration over competition in a team, and are confident enough in their abilities to allow for others to shine.
how level placement is determined
Unlike traditional beginner/intermediate/advanced scales which only account for dance technique and exist as a hierarchy to climb - our levels are carefully designed as communities where dancers can thrive for years in the same level. Our intention with our level structure is that all dancers - from beginner to professional - can be challenged, supported, and celebrated every term, long-term.
FACTORS THAT INFORM LEVEL PLACEMENT:
How much energy (focus, stamina, attention, etc.) does a student have to give their class?
How familiar are they with performing heels dance onstage and in-studio?
How consistently do they demonstrate consistent injury prevention in heels?
How familiar are they with Heels dance technique and vocabulary?
How much individual attention and/or constructive critique do they desire (if any)?
How self-aware are they regarding your their artistry, embodiment, and limitations?
How committed are they able to be in class and outside of class time (to practice, etc)?
How dedicated are they to your team’s development (vs. being focused on their own journey)?
RECEIVING PLACEMENT
All returning students are automatically eligible to join the KITTEN HEELS, and do not need to receive placement.
If a student wishes to move from a NEWTOLUMI or KITTEN HEELS course, into a PUMPS or STILETTOS level - they must either attend a free Placement Class, or contact us to request a Video Placement or for a Placement Expert to attend one of their regularly scheduled Progress classes before the end of term. They will then directly receive a recommendation on which level would be the best fit moving forward. Students may not “self-assess” into any level except Kitten Heels.
“BY APPLICATION” COURSES
Since we have over 400 students in our program, there are often differences in the focuses and abilities of students even within each of the core levels. Because of this, we occasionally offer By Application courses. These courses are reserved primarily for students who have been dancing with Luminesque for a long time at the same level, and desire to dance with other students with the same level of commitment and/or experience with Luminesque. We accept applications before registration launches, and then students who are determined by our Placement Experts to be a good fit will receive invitations to enrol. Applicants who do not receive an invitation are still eligible to enrol in any other class at their usual level.
more about the progress program
Our 5-month PROGRESS program guides beginner to advanced dancers through a comprehensive deep dive into the foundations, skills, technique, context and performance of Heels dance. The cast of hundreds of dancers then celebrates their achievements through a larger than life shows at premiere venues to a supportive audience of friends, family, and fans.
RETURNING COURSES are offered in 4 locations, three levels (KITTEN HEELS, PUMPS & STILETTOS), and do not require an audition. All adult (19+) dancers who have completed a term of Luminesque Progress before are welcome!
Have you never taken a Luminesque Progress program before? Learn more about our NEW TO LUMI options here.

2025 progress program pricing
Whether you’re learning how to dance, or leveling up your existing skills - our Progress program is a long-term investment in your dance journey. We are the largest Heels dance progressive program in the world, because we provide the best dance education. Even still, we are one of the lowest cost per hour progressive adult dance programs in BC, and work hard to keep dance accessible.
MORE ABOUT PAYMENT PLANS
We offer a SLIDING SCALE to keep our high-value, long-term Progress Program financially accessible. There are unlimited spaces available at our Standard and Sponsor payment tiers, and limited spaces available at our Support tier (exact quantity directly relates to the number of Sponsor tiers purchased during the previous term, plus additional spots sponsored by Luminesque).
All of our courses are paid by PAYMENT PLAN by default. You can choose between a weekly payment plan, or a monthly payment plan - both plans are the same total cost, so just choose whichever works best for you. If you wish to pay for the full term all at once, please contact us and we will be happy to accommodate.
Payment Plans begin as soon as you register for your course, and continue until the balance of your registration fees is fully paid. This often means payments start before your course begins, and they finish before your course ends. While Payment Plan timeframes often correspond to the approximate length of courses, they are NOT monthly/weekly “memberships”, and cannot be cancelled without penalty after the Withdrawal Deadline. Please read our humans-first Refund Policies before purchasing, take note of your withdrawal deadlines, and ensure you are ready to commit to the full term before registering for the program.
HOW WE KEEP DANCE ACCESSIBLE:
Offering weekly or monthly Payment Plans as our default payment method
Offering self-assessed Sliding Scale pricing (limited quantities for support tiers)
Providing discounts for long-term students (“LumiLifer” pass)
By subsidizing the high cost of running Progress with show ticket revenue
Offering a robust Scholarships program for marginalized dancers
Providing humans-first Refund + Cancellation policies
