Dear Luminesque Dance Squamish Community,
With a heavy heart, we share some bittersweet news with you today. After much consideration and deliberation, we've had to make the difficult decision to close the doors of our space, Glow Studios Squamish, at the end of June. It's not a choice we've made lightly, but the rapid rise in property taxes and rent over the past few years has left us with no other options at this time.
We know that this news may come as a shock, and we share in the disappointment that many of you may feel. Glow Squamish has been more than just a dance studio; it has been a home away from home, a place where friendships blossomed, and a cozy sanctuary for creativity and community. We took on this space at a dark point in the pandemic with so much hope for the future, and while we’re devastated to let it go after fighting so hard for it - we’re so grateful for the safe space it provided us all while it lasted. The memories created within these walls will forever remain in our hearts.
That said, we know the Luminesque Squamish community is so much more than a physical space. While Glow Studios Squamish may be closing its doors, Luminesque Squamish will continue to thrive because the glow must go on! We are excited to announce that Luminesque programs will find a new home at our beloved teacher Cierra Rohde's beautiful new studio, Dance Directions (39455 Discovery Way). Dance Directions is also founded on the values of kindness, community, and inclusivity, and so the opportunity to take up residency there has been a beacon of hope arriving at the perfect time. Cierra shares our passion for dance and community, and we are confident that she will provide a warm and welcoming new space for our dancers to grow and glow. We are thrilled we will still be able to bring fantastic programs, epic shows, and community events to Squamish and continue to grow our presence and offerings here, even with this shift.
We understand that change can be daunting, but we hope that you will join us in embracing this new chapter with optimism and enthusiasm. Our commitment to providing high-quality dance education and fostering a supportive and inclusive community in Squamish remains unwavering. While we’re in a new space, we’re still the same close-knit community, and we’re certain that together, we will navigate these uncertain times and emerge stronger and more resilient than ever before.
As we move through this transition, we invite you to share any kind words you may have about Luminesque Squamish in the comments, in reviews, and most importantly, with friends and family who might want to dance with us. Beyond meaning the world to Vanessa and I - sharing your stories helps maintain the strength of the special community we’ve built together. Let’s make sure Squamish still knows that while our studio doors are closing, our work and play are long from over. Let's celebrate the memories, the friendships, and the sheer joy that dance has brought into our lives since we started Luminesque Squamish in 2018.
